Shelley Holroyd, an Olympic Javelin thrower and now coaching Paralympic and Mainstream Athletes in throws, from Manchester, recently added 3D glasses to her HD142X projector setup. We caught up with her to see how she got on.
Why did you choose the HD142X?
“The reviews from other people, the fact it was 3D, HD, the price of the unit and it also came as a bundle with a free 92" screen – all too good to pass up!”
Why choose a projector over a TV?
“As a lover of films and the cinema I was wanting the cinema experience in the comfort of my own home. I love 3D movies and although I have a 65" 3D HD TV in addition to the HD142X, the projector has an amazing quality to it that you would think you're watching an Ultra HD film on TV.
“I love watching sports and, as an athletics coach, I analyse athletes’ training. Having a 92" screen makes things more enhanced and it's almost life size - making analysis much easier.
“I also like gaming on the PS4 and having a 92" screen, with life size characters, in a pitch black room is a whole different experience than on a TV.”
What equipment have you connected to your projector?
“I have Sky, a 3D Blu-ray DVD player, a PS4 pro, Apple TV and an Amazon Firestick. I also bought a wireless switcher so I can switch between ports.
“The screen is attached to my ceiling and pulls down in front of my TV which is on the wall so it covers the viewing angle for everyone. There's no fading in the picture either which I've seen on other models.”
What has been the reaction from your family and friends?
“A lot of my friends have commented on it saying it's amazing and that the quality is unbelievable. My niece came round to watch a film was mesmerized by it. She even brought popcorn because she said she was going to the cinema - she's 7. My gaming friends and athletes also love it. My father in law is considering buying the same model as me too because he loved the quality of it.”
What sort of things do you watch?
“Any 3D film, preferably ones where the colours are vibrant and where things stand out more from the screen, action films and also standard films too, sports such as athletics, football, boxing & rugby, general TV programmes and coaching analysis.”
Anything else?
“I have blackout blinds when the projector is on to make sure I have the full experience from the quality it provides. I can't fault it. Installation was easy, the remote control is easy to use, replacement bulbs are not expensive and for the quality of the product and the quality of the picture I see no need to purchase a new TV in the future.
“I recently added a pair of ZF2300 3D glasses to the setup and tested them out on Finding Dory – it made quite the dazzling viewing! The picture quality does not falter, even with 3D!”
