Optoma has added three new signal processors to its Chameleon range with the new universal video and audio presentation scaler-switchers – PS200, PS200T and PS300T. Based on HQUltra 4K image processing technology, they provide best in class picture quality with low latency video processing. The Chameleon products are designed to support Optoma’s ProScene projector range to provide greater control and flexibility for ambitious projects.
Designed for fixed installation applications where seamless video switching and scaling is required, the Chameleon PS200/300 series provide a professional quality presentation in meeting rooms, conference rooms, boardrooms, classrooms and auditoriums.
Justin Halls, Chief Technology Officer at Optoma EMEA said: “HQUltra technology was chosen to power the large videowalls used at the recent Rio Olympics. The same HQUltra technology powers the Optoma Chameleon range of presentation-switcher products
“Switching is so fast that you can switch sources without the audience noticing.”
Each model is able to switch input channels in as little as 0.25 seconds, providing ultra-fast transitions for a seamless on screen appearance. Typically, single channel switchers can take up to 3 or 4 seconds.
Unique to the Optoma Chameleon PS200/300 series, HQUltra 4K technology provides best in class video quality, even at high scaling factors. This means images are sharp, clear and free of any halo-effects.
The PS200/300 series accept 4K inputs with refresh rates of up to 60Hz and can downscale to any lower resolution. These models can also up-scale any signal to a maximum of 4K 60Hz. This allows for fast motion video to be viewed with exceptional smoothness.
Featuring exceptionally low latency, input video is processed with only one frame delay - crucial for “IMAG” in live performances where lip sync for audio and video must be maintained or for simulation or gaming where response times are critical.
Each model is fitted with eight-line level stereo audio inputs plus two microphone inputs with phantom power. They also include a built-in audio mixer and a stereo 30W amplifier with two loudspeaker outputs.
Despite the small dimensions of the new Chameleon signal processors, the built-in power amp enables speakers to be connected directly without the need for a separate power amp. Ideal for small to mid-sized rooms, the stereo balanced line level outputs allow these models to be used in larger spaces to drive an external amplifier or powered loudspeakers.
These models also feature an easy to read front panel menu plus remote control via inbuilt webserver and easy to implement API commands.
For in-camera and broadcast use, the PS300T provides a Genlock input compatible with bi or tri-level sync or black & burst.
The PS200, PS200T and PS300T offer an extensive range of input connectivity for today’s digitally connected ProAV world, but still support legacy formats too, all with great image quality.
